
Shanxi Key Laboratory of Micro Nano Sensors & Artificial Intelligence Perception was established in 2010, formerly known as the Micro-Nano Systems Research Center of Taiyuan University of Technology. It was approved as a Shanxi Provincial Key Laboratory in 2021. The laboratory was successively selected as the Key Field Innovation Team by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2013, awarded the Shanxi "1331" Project Key Field Innovation Team and Shanxi "Hundred Talents Program" Innovation Team in 2017, and recognized in 2018 as the Advanced Micro-Nano Sensor and System Innovation Team of Shanxi Province, Shanxi Provincial AI Biomedical Graduate Training Base, "Big Data Technology and Application Discipline Cluster" under the Shanxi Higher Education Service Industry Innovation Discipline Group Construction Plan, "1331" Project AI Biomedical Key Laboratory of Shanxi Province, and Shanxi Provincial Engineering Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Biomedicine.

The team consists of 33 core members, all holding doctoral degrees. Over 70% have overseas study or research experience, including 22 senior professionals, 1 National Outstanding Young Scholar, DF Leading Talent, 1 National Excellent Young Scholar, 6 provincial "Hundred Talents Program" awardees (including 2 "Young Hundred Talents"), and over 20 outstanding young doctoral talents from domestic and international backgrounds. The laboratory has trained more than 200 doctoral and master’s students. The center is equipped with comprehensive facilities, including 3,200 square meters of specialized laboratory space and over 60 sets of advanced instruments totaling approximately 50 million RMB in value.
The team has published over 500 academic papers, authorized 160+ core patents (including 10+ international patents), and published 10 academic monographs. It has undertaken more than 80 research projects, including the National Key R&D Program, National 863 Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, Shanxi Provincial Key Discipline Development Projects, Shanxi Major Special Projects, and industry-academia collaborations, with total funding exceeding 100 million RMB. The research achievements have received more than 20 awards, including the Gold Medal at the 2025 Salon International des Inventions de Genève, the First Prize of the 2025 Shanxi Provincial Technological Invention Award, the First Prize of the 2022 Shanxi Provincial Natural Science Award, the First Prize of the 2021 Shanxi Provincial Patent Award, and the First Prize of the 2020 Shanxi Provincial Technological Invention Award.
